Rescuing and Rehoming Pedigree Dogs: Chhaya’s Mission of Love
Every year, countless pedigree dogs are abandoned on the streets—left to starve, suffer, and die. Many of them were once purchased from backyard breeders at low prices by people who had little understanding of their needs. When these dogs become difficult to manage, they are cruelly dumped in deserted places, with no way to survive on their own.
Thankfully, animal activists and compassionate individuals step in to rescue these abandoned breed dogs and bring them to Chhaya, where we welcome them with an open heart. Here, they receive food, medical care, and the love they were once denied.
Over the years, we have given shelter to many pedigree dogs, including Mastiffs, German Shepherds (GSD), Cocker Spaniels, Spitz, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Labrador Retrievers, and Golden Retrievers. Some of these dogs come to us in horrific conditions—malnourished, sick, or emotionally broken—but with care and patience, they learn to trust humans again.
Our ultimate goal is to find them forever homes, and many families have opened their hearts to adopt these beautiful souls. Some of our most heartwarming adoptions include Rottweilers, GSDs, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers—even a 13-year-old Dachshund who found a loving family in his final years.
The backyard breeding industry continues to exploit these dogs, producing litter after litter for profit without concern for their well-being. As a result, pedigree dogs are now sold at alarmingly low prices, leading to impulse buying and eventual abandonment. This cycle of cruelty must stop.
At Chhaya, we are committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming these innocent dogs. They are not commodities—they are living beings who deserve love and respect.
